Sucralfate 1g tablets
Formulary
  • First line for bile reflux/chronic bile reflux
  • Not recommended for the treatment of GORD 

Indication and course length to be stipulated on discharge from secondary care.

Sucralfate could be discontinued if there is no benefit after a 4-8 week trial.

Sucralfate 1g/5ml S/F oral suspension
Formulary
  • First line use for stomal ulceration especially in post bariatric surgery (e.g. gastrojejunal anastomotic ulcer). Short term use only (high cost) should resolve within 12 weeks or post revisional surgery.
  • Second line for refractory cases of biliary gastritis or physiology proven weak or non-acid reflux, after trying the tablet form of sucralfate for 4 weeks
  • Approved for short term use post Radio Frequency Ablation (RFA) for Barret's Oesophagus and Endoscopic Mucosal Resection (EMR). Red
